Raw Batana Oil (Unrefined (Honduran & West African)
Introducing our rare, authentic Batana Oil, sourced directly from both Honduras and West Africa—giving you the best of both worlds. Our South American Batana Oil (Elaeis oleifera) and West African Batana Oil (Elaeis guineensis) are 100% raw, unrefined oils, traditionally treasured for their remarkable ability to nourish skin, hair, and scalp. Both varieties come from the kernels of the palm tree and share a rich, earthy aroma with a creamy, crumbly texture, containing no additives or fillers commonly found in other products. Batana oil is packed with essential fatty acids (Omega-6 and Omega-9) that help lock in moisture, reduce dryness, and restore elasticity, while its high vitamin E content provides powerful antioxidant protection. Proven to deeply hydrate, strengthen, and heal, this miracle oil promotes stronger, fuller, healthier hair and is excellent for use on the beard as well. You’ll love its ability to transform dry, damaged hair and skin naturally, with every drop delivering pure, revitalizing nourishment.
Also known as Ojon Oil, Batana Oil is extracted from the nut of the American oil palm and has been treasured for centuries as a powerful skin and hair care remedy. Used for hundreds of years by the Miskito people of Honduras, Batana Oil is renowned for promoting long, strong, and healthy hair. In fact, the Miskito proudly call themselves “Tawira,” meaning “people of beautiful hair,” a testament to the nourishing benefits of this rare and precious oil.
Batana Oil is made from the American palm tree found in the tropical rainforests of Central and South America and is considered extremely rare due to its labor-intensive production process, which is done almost entirely by hand. Each kernel is carefully removed one by one, a process that requires great time and effort. Traditionally, producing palm kernel oil is a long, meticulous journey, which is why authentic Batana Oil is so valuable. After harvesting, the kernels are thoroughly washed, then soaked in water for three days before being roasted for 30 to 45 minutes. Once roasted, the kernels are separated from the nuts, and the rich, nourishing oil is carefully extracted.
Batana Oil is high in Oleic and Linoleic Acids, Vitamin E, and is a superior emollient that can help heal dry and damaged hair, moisturize the scalp, and can protect the skin against UV rays, while keeping the skin elastic and firm
Color: Unless the oil is cold pressed, which is very light in color (almost ivory white), Batana shouldn’t be any other color but very dark brown to black in its liquid form or brown to dark brown in its solid form (see our images above). This is especially the case for the first phase of the roasted oil.
Sometimes, the outer shells of the kernels (which also contain a substantial amount of oil) are crushed and blended into the oil, which produces a mid-brown color.
Some oils go through heavier processing or are mixed with other ingredients. If your oil is mixed with other oils or with red palm oil (which comes from the fruit), you might expect a lighter color.
Melting test: Batana oil, when applied to your skin, will melt and absorb very easily into your skin. It should never sit on top of your skin. Even in room temperature, it should show signs of melting unless you’re in a very cold country.
Understanding the Difference Between West African Palm Kernel Oil and Honduran Batana Oil:
West African Palm Kernel Oil is rich in lauric acid, a powerful fatty acid known for its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. It’s excellent for strengthening hair and is often favored by those with acne-prone or eczema-prone skin, as lauric acid helps prevent clogged pores and irritation.
Honduran Batana Oil, by contrast, contains a higher concentration of oleic acid—a heavier, ultra-moisturizing fatty acid that deeply nourishes hair and scalp. However, due to its richness, it may not be the best choice for those with sensitive or acne-prone skin.
Both oils offer incredible benefits for hair, but the right choice ultimately depends on your skin type, hair goals, and personal preference.
INGREDIENTS:
Rare Batana Oil is a superior emollient celebrated for its powerful ability to deeply nourish the hair and scalp. Known for repairing damage caused by UV exposure, pollution, hair dyes, and chemical treatments, Batana Oil transforms dry, brittle strands into soft, healthy-looking tresses. It supports thicker, shinier hair, helps darken white or gray strands back to their natural color, and delivers incredible benefits for the skin by acting as a natural emollient, softening and soothing dry areas, helping to fade scars and stretch marks, and gently exfoliating the skin.

HOW TO SPOT FAKE BATANA OIL
The demand for Batana oil has led to a rise in counterfeit products. Here’s how to identify authentic oil:
- Melting Test: Real Batana oil melts easily into the skin, leaving a non-greasy finish. Fake products often sit on the surface.
- Source Transparency: Ensure the seller can trace the oil’s origin back to Honduras or other palm-producing regions like Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon, Congo and Equatorial Guinea.
- Price: Be cautious of prices that seem too good to be true. Genuine Batana oil is labor-intensive to produce and priced accordingly.
